Thucer Agro Tomato Factory in Pwalugu
CERATH is currently working with Thucer Agro Processing Limited (www.thuceragro.com), Andre Murray Consulting (South Africa), Malundoni Capital (South Africa), MS Plantinum (South Africa) to revive the Northern Star Tomato factory (NSTC). The NSTC has been nonfunctional for a number of years due to a myriad of factors. Government of Ghana (GoG) seeks to sell out 70% stakes to a private sector /investors who will revive and manage NSTC. The consortium seeks to revive the factory through an integrated model of using local tomato varieties suitable for tomato paste production. Additionally, the factory will also be used for fruit processing particularly watermelons into concentrate for exports.
Pattern Foods Limited Project
CERATH has a partnership with Patterns Food Limited (Ghana) to establish an industrial cereal mill factory in Northern Ghana. This factory will process maize/corn from Northern Ghana into corn grits and flour, and soya beans into soy bean oil. The grits will be supplied to selected breweries in Ghana for the production of its beverages. Corn flour which is the by-product will be used for animal feed. The processing capacity for this factory will be 1500 tons of maize/day. The factory will provide direct market for an estimated 15,000 farmers in selected districts in Northern Ghana
Railway Project
Railway development is high on the agenda in most African countries including Ghana. The Government of Ghana (GoG) has prioritized railway development as part of its key sectors of intervention. It is currently seeking to develop a railway network that will link up all the key areas of Ghana. GoG seeks to partner with a number of stakeholders, particularly the private sector/investor community in launching its national railway targets. CERATH in partnership with RGlobal (a research firm based in China) is working with China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) to invest in Ghana’s railway sector. The estimated railway potential to be developed is worth 4200km worth $2.1 billion.
Coconut Waste Project.
Coconut waste is a major and also growing issue in Ghana’s urban centers due to the high patronage of the fruits among the urban dwellers. Unfortunately, the waste is not used re-used. In some cases, it is burnt- a practice which is not environmentally friendly. The project idea is to establish a processing center that will utilize the coconut waste generated in the city of Accra. Coconut waste can be used in the production of Cocopeat, a multi-purpose growing medium used to nurse seedlings in the horticultural and agroforestry sectors. The project will create livelihoods for coconut vendors, waste pickers and factory workers.
